Escape
Escape is a relief made of clay that was made using a slab, it depicts a hand reaching through barbed wire with scrathes on the central knuckles of the hand. The message conveyed through this piece is one of perseverance. The message behind Escape is shown by the hand's continuation to push through the barbed wire despite being clearly hurt by it. The dark background of the piece reinforces the dark past of the hand that defines its story. The barbed wire represents the pain suffered throughout life and the scratches subsequently created represent the marks left over from said pain. The hand's reaching pose signifies the desire for a more fulfilling and happy life.
